KIDS' CLASS QUESTIONS

  • What is the youngest you start kid students?

We have classes for kids aged 5-7 and we generally stick to this age group. We can consider 4-year-olds who have above average maturity levels for this age on occasion, but it is at the instructor's discretion.

  • What age groups do you offer for kids?

We offer classes for ages 5-7 years and 8-13+. Teenagers join our adult group depending on their size and maturity level.

  • Will my child have kids their own age and size to train with?

Absolutely! We have a growing kids program with all ages and sizes

    represented.

One of the reasons we keep the age range broad is to accommodate size discrepancies within this age group. Some 8-year-olds are as tall as some 13-year-olds, so we like to keep partner sizes

at the forefront of our practice considerations so kids can develop real

skills and not quit due to frustration.

  • My child is 4 years old. Can I bring them for a trial class?

We can occasionally accommodate kids who are younger than our specified age range. It depends on the maturity level of the child and we primarily look for the ability to pay attention to the instructor and follow the instructions for the duration of the class, which is about 40 minutes.

  • How many times per week should my child train?

As many times as you’d like! If that means once a week, that's much better than no training at all! Most of the kids in our program train 2 days per week, which allows them to see consistent progress.

  • What should I expect for my child’s first class?

Your child should have clothing they can work out in and get sweaty. Generally,  shorts or sweats and a t-shirt work great. Bringing water is also a good idea, as Jiu-Jitsu will get their heart rate up!
